Imagine a cool summer evening, just when the sun is about to set. You’re sitting by a lotus pond and taking in the view while sipping on a nice cool glass of rose…
Rouka by Sreejith Jeevan designs clothes that give you exactly this feel. Just looking at his garments during the fittings at #LFW, I was transported to a calm evening I spent early this year in Kumarakom by a pond at the Taj property. A contemporary brand, Rouka’s designs embody the ‘Modern Woman’. It blends the old with the new and each piece is made with love. Sreejith’s pieces have an internationally appeal. Based out of Kochi, Rouka is inspired by the timeless style that is a reflection of the city.
Rouka made it’s runway debut through the Genext Programme of the Lakme Fashion week in 2014 & has showcased at the Lakme fashion week in AW14, AW15, AW 17 . In AW16 showcased in Kochi, with a show that featured real women from all walks of life on the ramp, which I think is a fabulous concept.
Sreejith is a silent observer, he speaks few but powerful words. Extremely talented and knowledgable, he has a clear vision for his brand and designs. I spent some time discussing fashion, ‘Rouka’ and art with him. He is extremely passionate about working with sustainable textiles and his designs are a true reflection of his personality – calm, serene, understated yet well designed. Many celebrities including Athiya Shetty, Tillothama Shome, Rima Kallingal, Amala Paul, Rajisha Vijayan, Prayaga Martin etc have been spotted in ROUKA’s designs.
His Autumn Winter 2017 collection ‘into the lotus pond’, is a collaboration with Ananya Natural that’s perfect for those of you who love to wear trendy yet comfortable silhouettes, that make you feel fabulous and exotic while being sustainable all at once. A few of my favourite pieces from the collection –
Silk shibori ombre dyed dress with embroidered motifs
Sheer organza tie dyed overlayer.
I can’t wait to wear my ‘Rouka’ designs to my next holiday in Greece <3 or for the upcoming ‘brunch’ season in Mumbai.
